In the summer of '98 I joined the Partners In Science research program. The cover story was that I would be part of a team lead by Professor David Cleary of Gonzaga University investigating methods to create and test crystal candidates capable of transmogrifying infrared light into blue photons efficiently. I was 'officially' in charge of modelling the crystal candidates and interfacing a control computer with the scanning monochromators. The reality was that we were seeking to create a powerful FREE Electron laser weapon funded by a covert group of Utopian scientists known to the outside world as the M.J. Murdoch Charitable Trust. Once the actual BLU-RAY was developed for public commercial use, the project went dark.
